Switzerland and Lausanne in particular have an excellent infrastructure in the area of health and emergency services.
At the sites of the events, first aid services will be organized in conjunction with associations such as the Samaritans and the Swiss armed forces. The three reserved sites have infirmaries able to administer first aid.
Regarding the Pontaise Olympic Stadium, due to the number of participants and spectators expected at both events, the Opening and Closing Ceremonies, the medical service will be organised directly by the AMP (Advanced Medical Post) of the City of Lausanne. In the case of Large Group Performances, the locations will be adapted to include a medical unit.
At the Malley Sports Centre, medical supervision will be organised on location, from morning until the end of activities. In addition, a room will be provided for physiotherapy and massage.
For the WG Village at Bellerive, local medical supervision is planned from 5pm.
For the City Performances, medical services will be available on location to provide the first aid. A mobile service will be available to go to these locations in case of need.
To conclude, the central point being Beaulieu Lausanne, a permanent polyclinic will be organised in the main building. Boxes will be assembled to receive patients for consultation, massage and re-education treatment, materials and to host the delegation doctors. Any Delegation coming with a doctor has to inform the OC.
It should be noted that the two polyclinics are close to each other and will help the various parties concerned to manage urgent problems that require only out-patient service. Also, Lausanne has a university hospital Centre. In the event of a more serious accident, the gymnast will be transferred to the CHUV, the university hospital of Vaud.
For any medical problem arising in the accommodation locations, the hospitals at Morges and Vevey are easily accessible to respond to possible emergencies. One single telephone number will help any gymnast obtain any further medical assistance required.
It should also be noted that a medical representative will occupy the Beaulieu Lausanne central headquarters on a 24-hour basis. He will be responsible for analysing and securing the necessary assistance needed during any medical incident.
